About Sarah

A brief introduction of me and my professional background.

My name is Sarah Sayyar, and I am 28 year old Arkansas native. I received my M.A. in Professional and Technical Writing from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (2018), and I received my bachelor’s degree in history and psychology  from the University of Arkansas at Monticello (2015). I am currently finishing classes to obtain a Graduate Certificate in Online Writing Instruction from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (expected graduation December 2021).

During my time as a history undergrad, I worked at the UAM Center for Writing and Communication for a total of two semesters. Once I graduated, this experience allowed me to become an intern at the UA Little Rock's Writing Center when I started graduate school at UA Little Rock. During graduate school, I held two graduate assistantships.

First, I assisted with event planning for UA Little Rocks’ Academy for Teaching and Learning Excellence. This was on a small scale, in the form of lunch and learn sessions for faculty. The position required me to reserve rooms, order food catering, do faculty outreach, advertise the events, and set up any technology needed for presenters.

Next, I spent two semesters working an administrative/outreach

position with the UA Little Rock Writing Center. In addition to

consulting with students on a variety of communication assignments,

I lead faculty outreach, education of interns/group discussions,

and scheduled tours.

In my final year of graduate school, I worked as a first-year

composition teaching assistant at UA Little Rock (two semesters).

I also had the privilege of working with the Plantation Agriculture

Museum all throughout my time in graduate school. This job

included a lot of communication with museum guests and working

with kids.

One thing has remained constant throughout my professional

career: the need for strong writing/communication skills.
