Education has always been a priority in my life.
Both of my parents are professors at the University of Arkansas at Monticello! I've also held professional jobs in education throughout my work history. I formally taught first-year composition at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock for two semesters. In addition, I spent several years as a writing tutor, working in two university writing centers. I'm familiar teaching the writing process, grammatical conventions, research methods, rhetoric, audience, and genre. Please see the links below for my teaching philosophy, class observation letters, and examples of documents I created for classes.
Class Observation Letters: Dr. Ray, Ms. Johnson, Ms. Lewis
Example Assignment: Writing a Film Review
Establish Film Review Criteria
In addition to working as a TA and a writing tutor, I spent two years helping the Plantation Agriculture Museum with many educational workshops, crafts, and spring break/summer events for kids. The ages of the kids ranged from 5 to 12. I would often help create the educational content with the Park Interpreter and then assist the kids at the actual events. Please see below for a collection of pictures from my time working at the Plantation Agriculture Museum.
